Guide to team, projects, and files

Motiff provides a structured and intuitive approach to managing design assets through four key levels: Team, Project, File, and Page. This system is designed to help you organize your assets, streamline collaboration, and maintain clarity across your workflows.

Team: A relatively independent asset management space where you can invite members to join, manage file access permissions for team members in detail, and share component libraries within the team.

Project: Nested under a team, a team can create multiple projects.

File: Nested under a project, a project can create multiple files. Each file is an independent editing workspace.

Page: Nested under a file, a file can create multiple pages. Each page is an independent infinite canvas, but all pages within a file share the same editing workspace.

Note: Different plans will limit the number of items at each level. Learn more about Motiff plans.

Team

In Motiff, teams provide spaces for you and your team members to collaborate and share design assets. You can create or join multiple teams under one account. Motiff will list all the teams you belong to in the workspace sidebar.

Project

Motiff supports creating new projects within a team. You can organize multiple files under a single project, similar to folders in file management.

Tips:

  • In the Organization plan, each team can create unlimited projects.

  • In the Professional plan, each team can create unlimited projects.

  • In the Starter plan, each team can create only one project.

Each project has its own project page, you can switch between '16_Panel_List.svg' and '24_Common_AllTeams.svg' on the project page, and sort files as needed.

File

You can create designs in files or maintain design systems within files. Motiff supports creating new files under project levels or in your drafts.

Tips:

  • In the Organization plan, each project can create unlimited files.

  • In the Professional plan, each project can create unlimited files.

  • In the Starter plan, each project can create only three files.

Each file is an independent collaboration space where you can invite collaborators to participate in your design.

Page

Page is a new layer in addition to files and projects. It can be used to help you better organize your designs. A design file can contain multiple pages, providing more room for designers to explore different ideas.

Each page has an independent canvas where you can create frames, groups, and other layers.
