Motiff supports adding comments in files to give feedback, gather inputs from others to refine your design, and speed up the iteration process in your design.
Motiff supports adding comments in the design files. You can also add emojis or press @ to mention other collaborators in comments.
Tip: If you want to add comments on the top-level frame, Motiff will attach the comment to it. When moving these layers, the attached comments will move with them, but comments will not attach to other layers that are not top-level frames.
You can add emoji expressions when adding or replying to comments. Motiff will use the emoji collection of your system.
Once you and your team add comments to a file, they will appear at their corresponding locations on the canvas, where you can view and reply to them directly using Motiff's web or desktop app. In comment mode, you can also manage comments from the right sidebar.
Note: When you are in comment mode, you cannot make any changes to the layers on the canvas. You can press Esc or select another tool to continue editing the file.
To edit a comment: Select it from the canvas or the right sidebar, click to open the advanced settings, click Edit… to make your changes, and then click Save to apply or Cancel to discard them.
To hide comments: By default, comments are visible on the canvas whether or not you are in comment mode, but you can hide them and only view them in comment mode by using the shortcut Shift + C .
To reply comments: All collaborators can add, view, and reply to comments by selecting a comment in the canvas or sidebar, entering a reply or reacting with an emoji , using @ mentions, sending the comment by clicking or Return / Enter , and adding more replies as needed.
To delete comments: Motiff allows you to delete comments. To delete a single reply, you can select the comment in the canvas or right sidebar, click at the top right corner of the comment details, and select Delete. To delete the entire thread, you can follow these steps and select Delete again in the confirm deletion popup.
Tip: Deleting comments or replies will remove any associated replies. This action is permanent so the deleted comments cannot be restored even if you restore the file to a previous historical version.
When modifying design content based on comment feedback, you can dock the comment details to the top left corner of the canvas by opening the comment details from the canvas or right sidebar and clicking the dock icon .
Once a comment is addressed, you can resolve it by selecting the comment and clicking at the top right corner, which will hide it from both the canvas and the right sidebar.
Tip: If you mistakenly mark a comment as resolved, you can undo this action by unchecking in the comment details. Click the right sidebar in comment mode, then filter out the resolved comments.
When you enter comment mode, all comments in the file will be displayed in the right sidebar. Clicking on the top of the right sidebar allows you to sort and filter comments.
Comments in the right sidebar can be sorted in the following ways:
Tip: You can also view comments in email notifications. Clicking the link in the email will open the file and navigate to the page and location of the corresponding comment.
When a comment is pinned to a layer, you can move both the layer and its comment simultaneously. The position of the comment will change depending on how the layer is moved and where it is placed.
Motiff will not copy the comments to the new file if you duplicate the file. In this case, comments will only remain in the original file.
