Lock or unlock layer

Locking a layer helps you to avoid unintended edits. If a layer is locked, you will not be able to edit it or reposition it on the canvas, even though it remains selectable in the Layers panel to adjust settings or properties. If a parent layer is locked, all child layers inherit this lock state and will be unlocked when the parent layer is unlocked.

There are two ways to lock or unlock layers. You can do it in the canvas or in the Layers panel.

In the canvas

  1. 1.Right-click on the layer in the canvas area.
  2. 2.Choose Lock/Unlock.
